How many more?
Holidays mark the rhythm of a year: the same dates come round, the same people gather, the same traditions repeat. Because they recur so reliably, it is easy to assume there will always be plenty more. Counting them up to an age you choose gives a number that is both large and finite: around 45 more Christmases for someone in their mid thirties counting to 80, or 45 more birthdays. The wheel shows the year with your chosen holidays marked; the list counts each one and shows when the next falls.
Turn holidays on and off with the buttons. Easter and Thanksgiving move from year to year, so their next dates are worth checking when you plan time off.
How we calculate it
For each holiday we work out its date in every year from now until the year you reach your chosen age, and count those that fall after today and on or before your chosen birthday. Fixed holidays use their calendar date. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November and US Mother’s Day the second Sunday of May. Easter Sunday uses the standard Gregorian calculation. Weekend counts check whether each date falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
| Holiday | Next date | Weekday |
|---|---|---|
| Christmas Day | 25 December 2026 | Friday |
| New Year’s Day | 1 January 2027 | Friday |
| Valentine’s Day | 14 February 2027 | Sunday |
| Easter Sunday | 28 March 2027 | Sunday |
| Thanksgiving (US) | 26 November 2026 | Thursday |
Worked example. Someone born on 12 April 1990 counting from 30 October 2026 to age 80 has 44 more Christmases, from 2026 to 2069, and 44 more birthdays. Of those Christmases, 13 fall on a weekend.
Making them count
A finite number can be a gentle prompt: to host the gathering you keep meaning to, to visit relatives while you can, or to start a tradition of your own. The calendar button adds the next of each holiday you have chosen.
Questions people ask
What does the age I choose mean?
It is the age you want to count up to, so you can see how many of each holiday fall before then. It is your choice, not a prediction.
How is Easter worked out?
Western Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March, using the church’s fixed tables rather than the real Moon. It can fall anywhere from 22 March to 25 April. We calculate it with the standard Gregorian method.
How often does Christmas fall on a weekend?
Two years in every seven, on average. Over 28 years the weekday pattern repeats almost exactly, as long as no century year without a leap day gets in the way.
Why include Friday the 13th?
For fun. Every year has at least one Friday the 13th and at most three. They are counted the same way as the holidays.
